Be Inspired Films Branches Out With First Actor-Led Film
Be Inspired Films has expanded its showreel with its first film made with actors.
The Birmingham-based video production company has a vast portfolio comprising documentary-style films, interviews and animation made to promote charities, multinationals’ CSR projects and events including TEDx and OxfordJam. Its recent marketing video for Derbyshire County Council’s innovative Uni-fi initiative, made with a cast of professional actors, is therefore a new direction for the business.
Entitled Ten Years On, the ten-minute film tells the stories of Karina, Clark and Tyler as they reflect on their time spent in the care of foster parents and how it has affected their lives as adults. It is an overwhelmingly positive film, showing how foster care can make an enormous change to the lives of children and young people in Derbyshire.
The characters are based on the experiences of real people and played by actors Chelsea Corfield, Jake Waring and Tom Hendryk respectively with a charming performance by Poppy Clarke as Polly, Karina’s five-year-old daughter.
Beautifully filmed, Ten Years On is set amid the rural landscapes and villages of Derbyshire – serving to reflect the characters’ stability as adults after troubled childhoods and that challenges facing young people in care are not confined to urban environments.
Be Inspired Films founder Ravinol Chambers describes the use of actors in marketing videos as ‘a whole different ball game’.
“After so many years making factual videos and animation, once you bring in actors and props it’s a very different experience,” he says. “It’s a more complex approach to making a case study video for marketing but I think the resulting film is more powerful for it.”
The film was funded by Nesta and will be used to help organisations working with young people in care to better understand the challenges they face and which types of support really help.
Founded with strong social ethics, Be Inspired Films produces complete videos and animation for social purpose organisations and CSR projects, offers live streaming for events and provides affordable video training to SMEs and charities.
