At that time I was excited by the idea of Social Enterprise and the promise of sustainability it might bring to social impact organisations.
As time went on I saw that Social Enterprise was often still relying on grants.
Although aligned with social impact, I wanted Be Inspired Films to stand on its own feet and trade solely on the merit of the quality of our services.
Thankfully that is what we did and continue to do.
I have always been committed to social impact but equally committed to ensuring our work is as good if not better than any of our commercial competitors.
A chance meeting would help connect the dots for our next chapter.
I was walking across the lobby of Said Business School in Oxford in early 2015 when I bumped into Charmian Love.
She told me about B Corp, that they were a movement of for-profit businesses acting as a force for good in the world and if I was fast we could be one of the first cohort to be certified in the UK.
It felt a much better fit than Social Enterprise and I set about gathering all of the evidence to qualify for the certification process.
Reassuringly there was a lot that needed to be gathered and submitted.
We managed to become part of that first cohort and became the first B Corp video production company in the UK in the process.
It is something I am very proud of and have made many wonderful friends who share similar values through the network as well as great clients.
It is a great way for us to talk about our values with new clients and indicates the depth of those values due to the rigorous certification process.
